Betsey is the SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Canadian Banking. Betsey leads the TD marketing team across all Canadian lines of business including responsibility for the digital marketing ecosystem – real time and targeted marketing, social and content. She is a key member of the executive leadership team for each of the Business Unit and Marketing Operating Groups.
Betsey has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, working in the UK, Europe, US, and Canada. In each of her roles, she has been a change agent for organizations who want to achieve growth objectives through Big M marketing. She most recently spent 7 years with BMO Financial Group where she was the Chief Marketing Officer of Banking and Wealth, for all global geographies. She led the digital transformation of the marketing organization and attained No.1 in digital sales for 4 consecutive years. She also developed the BMO Wealth Management brand reaching a leadership awareness position in the industry.
Betsey established her analytical and digital marketing acumen early in her career. Firstly, as an Executive Strategy Consultant with KPMG in the UK, where she led marketing and digital strategies for FTSE 100 companies. She then joined American Express where she spent 8 years on the senior leadership team, accountable for Direct and Digital Marketing, Product and P&L management for cards, lending and insurance portfolios. Betsey has won the CMA Awards for Best Digital Financial Services Campaign and Best Media Execution for The Aviva Community Fund and Best Integrated Campaign for Business Gold Rewards.
Having two daughters, Betsey is a Diversity and Inclusion advocate and on the Board of Havergal College and Marketing Committee for Catalyst. Betsey completed her MBA at London Business School in the UK, and also has her Chartered Accountancy designation.
In the fifth grade, Robert Rose’s teacher sent him home with a note that said ‘Robert likes to tell stories.’ Well, as it turns out, she was right. Robert is the founder and Chief Strategy Officer of The Content Advisory – the consulting and advisory group of The Content Marketing Institute. Robert has been helping marketers tell their story more effectively through digital media for more than 20 years. Over the last five years, Robert has worked with more than 500 companies of all sizes, including 15 of the Fortune 100. He’s provided strategic marketing advice and counsel for global brands such as Capital One, Dell, Ernst & Young, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and UPS.
Robert is the author of three best selling books. His latest, Killing Marketing, has been said to have “unlocked the puzzle of what marketing should be in the 21st century.” You can hear Robert on his weekly podcast with co-host Joe Pulizzi, “This Old Marketing”. Robert is also an early-stage investor and advisor to a number of technology startups, serving on the advisory boards of a number of companies, such as Akoonu, DivvyHQ and Tint.
Linda Duncombe, Managing Director, is the Global Head of Growth and Chief Marketing Officer for Citi FinTech, where she oversees Citi FinTech’s Marketing, Client Experience, Insights and Acceleration. She leads the Citi Design team, a unique function that integrates the Citi FinTech and Consumer organizations to deliver a radically simple, connected digital and mobile experience for Citi’s clients and drives consistent business growth for the Consumer Bank. Additionally, Linda also leads Citi’s global activity for FinTech Acceleration which includes the strategy of expanding our partnership with the developer community.
Prior to joining Citi FinTech Linda was the Global Head of Social, Content and Digital Marketing for the Global Consumer Bank, where Linda was responsible for championing brand consistency and digital acceleration across Citi’s lines of business globally, overseeing the digital partnerships, global acquisition strategy, social media and content marketing efforts.
Prior to her move to the U.S. in 2015, Duncombe served as the Head of Customer Franchise at Citi Australia, where she was instrumental in helping transform the organization into a customer-first business. She oversaw every aspect of the customer experience in the Australia market, including strategy development, data analytics, business learning, complaint resolution, seamless service initiatives and customer communications. In addition, she spearheaded brand development, customer marketing, digital acquisition and servicing – and was responsible for managing Citi’s Australian partnerships and sponsorships portfolio, including the highly regarded Citibank Dining Program.
Prior to joining Citi, Linda spent over 20 years at National Australia Bank, where she worked in Business Banking, Private Banking and Consumer Banking, holding various sales, strategy and marketing roles. With her proven track record in leading people, inspiring performance and driving positive change, Linda has received several industry recognitions, including the Asia Pacific Citibank (APAC) Marketing Award (2012 Q3 and Q4); Annual Marketing Award for the Mobile App, specifically the Dining Program feature (2011); and the Asian Banking Best Internet Banking Award (2011 and 2012).
David Willows is Green Shield Canada’s Chief Innovation and Marketing Officer. He leads their recently developed Innovation Lab, all Product Development functions, including Pharmacy Strategy, and the traditional marketing and communications disciplines.
Prior to moving to GSC six years ago, he had spent five years as the Toronto Health and Benefits Practice Leader for Aon Consulting and then the merged Aon Hewitt organization.
Over the past 25 years, he has split his time between the insurance carrier and management consulting communities, first focused on attendance and disability management issues, but more recently managing challenges on the broader health and drug management issues facing Canadian organizations and their employees.
